Meet Ms. Valentine
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, my love for education began in the fourth grade when my teacher introduced me to Junie B. Jones! As a first-generation high school and college graduate, I believe literacy can transform the trajectory of one’s life.
A proud graduate of Gwinnett County Public Schools, I earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Sociology, a M.A.T. in English Education, and an Ed.S. in Teaching & Learning. I am a member of the National Professional Association and Honor Society for Educators and a candidate for National Board Certification.
Over the past nine years, I have taught grades 8–12, including AP Language & Composition and Year 1 IB Literature, with additional experience in the primary grades during my early work as a substitute teacher. My work is rooted in LOVE—creating culturally responsive, relationship-centered classrooms where students feel seen, challenged, and supported. One of my proudest accomplishments was leading my 11th-grade students to a 93% pass rate on the Georgia Milestones assessment—a testament to what students can achieve with high expectations and intentional support.
In addition to my work in K–12 education, I serve as an adjunct professor where I help students strengthen their literacy skills and navigate academia with confidence.
Education is more than a career for me—it is my calling. I am deeply committed to dismantling barriers to access and championing the transformative power of reading and writing.
