Meet Ms. Valentine
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, my love for education began in fourth grade when my teacher introduced me to Junie B. Jones — a single book that opened a world of safety, possibility, and joy! As a first-generation high school and college graduate, I’m living proof of how literacy can reshape the trajectory of a life.
A proud graduate of Gwinnett County Public Schools, I went on to earn a B.A. in English with a minor in Sociology from Georgia Gwinnett College, a M.A.T. in English Education from Georgia State University, and an Ed.S. in Teaching & Learning from Georgia Southern University. I am a proud member of the National Professional Association and Honor Society for Educators and a candidate for National Board Certification.
Over the past nine years, I’ve taught grades 8-12, including AP Language & Composition and Year 1 IB Literature, with additional experience in the primary grades during my time as a substitute teacher. My work is rooted in LOVE — building culturally responsive, relationship-centered classrooms where students feel seen, challenged, and cared for. One of my proudest accomplishments was leading my 11th grade students to a 93% pass rate on their Georgia Milestone, a testament to my commitment to literacy, and what students can do with the proper support. I am deeply committed to dismantling barriers to educational access and championing the transformative power of reading and writing.
In addition to my work in K–12 education, I serve as an adjunct professor at Gwinnett Technical College, supporting students as they strengthen their literacy skills and navigate the academic world with confidence.
Education isn’t just my career; it’s the work I am called to do, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
